At this point of the year, the conference calendar really starts to heat up. Vendors and exhibitors are putting the final touches to their stands and collateral to catch the attention of potential prospects and digital marketers the world over are on the hunt for the next big thing to stimulate their business performance (and some top quality swag).
For us here at PRWD, this is one of our favourite times of the year – all the excitement, the buzz and the chance to get in front of people to discuss the merits of conversion optimisation is always exciting.
Anyway, enough from me. Here are the five digital conferences (based in the UK) that we feel all marketers and product managers should attend (and that won’t break the bank) in 2016:
If, like us, you are based in the north of England, then I recommend you buy a ticket to Camp Digital in Manchester. With the way the economy has evolved and customer expectations of brands at an all-time high, businesses need to better understand and prioritise their online experiences to match and even surpass these expectations. With talks focusing on user experience, personalisation and the psychology of the user from speakers from household names such as the BBC and Astra Zeneca, this is a conference well worth taking a day out of the office for.
You can still get a ticket from £199 at http://campdigital.wearesigma.com/
Being a conversion optimisation agency, you knew that there would be at least one conference on this list that focuses on the topic! This isn’t a shameless plug though, as after a fantastic first effort last year, Conversion World returns this year bigger and better.
The beauty of this conference is that is all online. That means you can enjoy all the fantastic insights and takeaways from a conference at your convenience, whether that be live or with recordings at a later date. There is even a dedicated slack channel, so you’ll even have the chance to interact with fellow digital marketers and industry-leading practitioners of conversion optimisation – what other conferences offer you the chance to pick the brains of the expert speakers at no extra cost?
As for the speakers, it really is a who’s who of the conversion optimisation industry from all around the world. By attending this conference, you will learn from some of the best optimisation strategists, psychologists, copywriters and more. Not only will you get invaluable insight into how to properly conduct testing, how to implement persuasion techniques effectively and much more, you will discover how conversion optimisation isn’t just about tweaking your site but about creating a supreme online experience which will ultimately become the cornerstone of a business’s success.
Tickets start from $300 but for $400 you can get the livestream AND the content on demand. You can even buy last year’s content too!

This is a big one and best of all, you can attend for free. Held in the NEC, there are workshops (free), one-to-one clinics (free), speakers from Google to ASDA discussing how to grow your business, becoming a true multi-channel operator to mobile commerce and everything in between, not to mention nearly every technology and solutions provider in the country attending. There’s a lot to take in over the two days but it’s worth the effort.
With the speed at which the ecommerce industry evolves, this is a perfect place to get a better understanding of the latest developments and technology (and maybe even discover something new). The relaxed atmosphere is conducive to striking up new relationships with potential vendors and your fellow peers in the industry (taking that conversation on Twitter to the next level), something you might not get at more regimented events.
We are really excited to be exhibiting and hosting a workshop at this event (cheeky plug: you can find us at stand H30, near the bar), so if you would like to learn more about how conversion optimisation can be a true growth lever for your business or about the intricacies of an optimisation programme, please pop over!
8 conferences – 15 clinics – 20 workshops – 300 exhibitors. All for free. It almost sounds too good to be true.

4. BrightonSEO & BrightonCRO
Brighton SEO is fast becoming one of the most popular and respected search marketing conferences in the UK, with the tickets often going within minutes! Brighton SEO is a one day, free to attend event where you can learn from some of the best SEO practitioners both agency and client-side. There are also a number of paid for training workshops taking place on the days in the run up to the conference on advanced Google Analytics, advanced PPC and even app optimisation. There are also roundtables to get involved in, perfect for in-depth discussions.
The past events have been attended by a mix of agencies, in-house marketing teams, business owners and freelancers, coupled with the informal, relaxed and friendly atmosphere, Brighton SEO presents a great opportunity for networking and creating contacts within the industry.
The next event on 22nd April has already sold out but you can join the waiting list for the next event (as it is bi-annual). The fact the tickets went in under a minute for the April event just shows how revered it is!
There are a few ticket options for you to choose from, from one-day attendance to the training package, all of which can be found at http://www.brightonseo.com/
After the success of BrightonSSEO, BrightonCRO event was born. Still in its infancy, this free event is quickly attracting the leading names from the British conversion optimisation scene and is a perfect opportunity to sneak in some one-on-one time with some true CRO pioneers!

The SAS stands for search, analytics and social, three pillars that are integral to a brand’s online success. Based in Manchester and spread over two days, this conference advertises itself as ‘organised by the digital community, for the digital community’; a perfect fit for a digital marketer!
Though it advertises itself as search, analytics and social, the event covers the whole spectrum of digital marketing. Not only will you have the chance to learn about each sector on their own, you will discover how to merge all three (as well as other channels such as email, direct marketing and yes, conversion optimisation) to form one cohesive, optimised online experience. There are also presentations discussing new technology and how that will better inform online experiences in the future.
One day tickets start from £195 and you can find more info at http://www.sascon.co.uk/
