Client brief

Provide a new user centred page design which will be used as a template for over 35 landing pages currently indexed on the major search engines. The new design should encourage forward movement within the site, encouraging visitors to view full ranges of specific product ranges they are interested in as well as specific product details.

The result

As the amount of content was to match the existing pages, the key focus of the project was to represent the range and product information which would encourage visitors to visit deeper within the site.

We concentrated on providing structure to the content, allowing a visitor to quickly determine what is general product range information and what is actual product information.

In addition we wanted to provide a clear and consistent language for the user as to what is clickable content, therefore minimising the cognitive effort a user requires in determines where they can and can't click.

Once the new user centred design template was rolled out for all 38 search engine landing pages, The Cotswold Company began carrying out web analytic testing to determine what impact the new designs had produced, for key metrics such as conversion rates, basket size and reductions in exit rates.
