How Do

How-Do serves the media and creative industries in the North West of England, offering news, opinion and resources for those working in all aspects of media, marketing, PR and advertising in the region.

Ben Waterhouse, Publishing Director at How Do, asked Paul if he would like to speak at a half day event titled 'Speeding Up In A Slowdown' alongside speakers from Google and PriceWaterHouseCoopers.

Paul was delighted to have been asked and went on to deliver a 35 minute presentation on the 3 key areas that businesses need to consider if they want to make serious improvements to their online performance, and all on working with smaller budgets than what they would have had pre-recession:

  • Understanding visitors – using gorilla user testing to actually begin understanding what visitors want and why they don’t complete their objectives
  • Measuring performance – its not good enough to just have analytics installed on your site, you need to be looking at goals, funnels and developing advanced segments to truly begin understanding visitor behaviour
  • Testing and improving – using split testing to make continual, incremental improvements to conversion rates, from key pages and overall website performance

Ben Waterhouse commented:

"Paul's brief was to present to an audience made up of senior decision makers within creative, digital and media businesses on the subject of website usability and how to increase conversions.

I think it is fair to say that Paul's presentation was delivered very well, in a manner that enabled the audience to engage with what he was saying and understand the complexities of his message. Out of 5 presenters at the event (incl the likes of Google and PWC), the delegate feedback ranked Paul as highest for the quality of his delivery and for the relevance and applicability of his message.

I for one would recommend him unhesitatingly to other organisations and very much look forward to the opportunity to work with him again in the near future."

"I have been very impressed with the user testing service PRWD have provided, from initiation through to delivery.

The insights that we gained from the users have been valuable, but what made the project a particular success was what Paul brought to the table. Without his considerable experience we would never have created the right scenarios for the users, or indeed have been able to glean the right information from the videos.

The report that Paul created was impressive from cover to cover, allowing me to create a long list of improvements to action. The meetings with Paul felt like a real collaboration, with him drawing on my knowledge of our site and users, mixing with his considerable industry experience. I would not hesitate to recommend PRWD to anyone who is serious about improving the usability of their website."

  • "I became aware PRWD and was immediately impressed with the level of expertise and reference able collateral on show on their website.

It was a no brainer for me; being local was also a major plus point as there is clearly a lack of expertise in this field north of London. Paul proved invaluable on the day as he led us through ‘idea after idea’ in which we could improve our services to our clients. His knowledge of the subject was clear for all to see and his approach to training very professional.”
